UTAH FALL WILLOW BORER CONTROL

UTAH TREE DOCTOR CAN SAVE YOUR TREES UNDER ATTACK BY FALL WILLOW BORERS

What Is The Cause Of My Tree's Illness?

A type of weevil sometimes referred to as a snout beetle. Most commonly found in larger diameter aspens, poplars, cottonwoods, and willows. Female beetles chew holes and insert eggs into the holes.

Damage By Willow Borers

Evidence of tree damage from willow borers includes channels in the bark made by tunneling larvae, dead or dying branches, stunted new growth, piles of sawdust at the base of the tree, and entrance and exit holes in the wood. Channels and holes are typically packed with frass, or insect excrement. This damage makes trees more susceptible to breakage during times of high wind.

How A Basic Diagnoses Is Made

Look for sap flowing from holes in the trunk and large branches, with sawdust at the base of the tree or stuck at the opening of the hole.
